I only installed the two modules which you posted back then that you used, and have noticed only two Avast tasks running in Process Explorer. The reason that I noticed this is that a few days ago, I made the executive decision to install Avast on the two PCs which I currently use most (one each XP and Vista), did an external search for Avast and your screen name, and found that topic. » Avast Free takes 99% of resources with all shields off.

I like how there is a choice of which components to install-I only install the File Shield, Web Shield, Behavior Shield, Network Shield and Script Shield for version that I use on my main (desktop) system,Īnd on the more current version I have on my laptop testbed/backup system I've got the File Shield, Web Shield and Behavior Shield (Avast consolidated some shields as they've moved from version to version).
